I need some rocker arm studs for my e7 heads but these guys arnt comming out of the old heads! are these screw in studs or what
My e7's have pedistal rockers. I'm not sure you can use studs with them. i'm sure someone will tell you for sure
The studs pull out. cut a piece of pipe about 3/4" shorter than the stud then put a couple of washers on top and a nut. tighten the nut down and it will pull the studs. If you need to replace one you need to replace them all with screw-in studs. That has to be done by a machine shop.
bob is right. e7s have pedistal mount rockers. that means that the rocker arms are held down with bolts not studs. they require specific rocker arms. you cant use stud mount rockers on e7s.
If your buying rockers..you can get stamped steel roller rockers (a little less expensive), that work with the pedestal mount. I have the part number somewhere.
you should be able to find a set of stock take off that come with the rockers, the pedistals, the bolts and the alignment channels. when you get roller rockers all but the channels get replaced. i have all the stuff you would need. its used so its just the cost of shiping if you want it.
Thank god for Raymond, i get to see the other half of my roller (motor in garage) with e6 heads. Transplant time.... Edit: thanks for the offer bryant, if things turn bad quick, ill send you a pm
When buying used rockers, and pedestals, the pedestal wares out faster that the rocker, so many are grooved, and can become loose when installed. The roller rockers I used, are a stock replacement for the stamped steel rocker. I have them on my car.
