Replacing Shocks

    I have a 1974 mav with 200CI L6. I would like to replace the shocks myself. How hard would that be? Do i need any special tools? What would be a good shock to purchase?

    It's easy, and requires only basic tools. AutoZone and Checker have gas-charged replacement shocks that are all you need...

    11/16 wrench at the top, 9/16 at the bottom, if i am remembering correctly. Really straightforward.

    replaced all mine myself.. just take out the old and put in the new... fairly straightforward..;)

    Three 71 Maverick Grabbers, a 72 302 Sprint, a 73 LDO 2door parts car, a 76 silver v8 Stallion.
    The front ones are a little tougher unbolting from the bottom but can be done with a 1/2 wrench. Just be patient.
