This item caught my eye because I have a broken knob in my remote mirror. I got all excited and drilled out the broken knob and got an ez-out in it. It took some persuasion, but I got it to turn...but it just kept turning! I used a small enough hole and ez-out to know for sure that I wasn't going to foul the threads up. I just don't think there are threads in there. Has anyone ever repaired one of these before? I can't see an easy way to repair the thing at all. The knob on eBay looks really long, too.

Mine was just a press-in piece, and unfortunately is broken. I've looked, but haven't been able to find a replacement anywhere.

I haven't ever seen replacements. Unfortunately, the design of these mirrors don't lend themselves to easy replacement of damaged parts. The type of metal used is more easily prone to damage and when it does break, is not easy to fix. I've seen tons of sport mirrors at swaps with broken control knobs and they sit because there's nothing you can do with them. I've spoke with a few who have tried to repair them without success. I once tried to disassemble the entire end from the cable and it was a disaster. I talked to a guy this weekend at Columbus who tried to do the same with the same result. Bottom line is that they're not made to be repairable.
