I want to have my 8 inch geared real high i think? Today we pulled up be side a mazda and they wanted to race and we put the medal to the pedal but it seemed very hard for the car to take off it wanted to take off so bad but it wouldnt i have a 302 5 lug i know i need a better rearend!
Time for some gears...3:55 is the ratio of chice for a street car(a good compromise between acceleration and cruising RPM)Midas well do the posi thing while your at it too.
Yeah i wanna go all out on the rearend but make it street drivable any links and tutorials i need to look at and use the next money i get is going towards rearend and 4 barrel conversion.
http://www.metropartsmarket.com/catalogs/fordrearend-c2s2.html Is this a good deal? How much work is involved.
I want posi and i want it to be able to take off easy real good and fast and just to be better. I don't know just all the way around better 4.11 would be bad lol? I want a a monster rearend i want to have a 347 stroker and 4 speed in the next year..
So 3.55 is the highest i should go will i really feel a difference? How much work is involved in that thing i posted.
3.55's would be the most i would put in with a Non OD trans. Will be plenty of differance over the stock gear.that unit you posted looks like it would be just a R&R job for the stocker.
I have a 3 speed ford overdrive could you make that work for a maverick? and im not to sure what R&R means?
8" Auburn Positraction 8" Detroit Locker Positraction 8" Open Differentials 8" Trac Loc Positraction Which one? So if i installed one it would be a posi?
I run the 4:11 8 inch locker in mine and its a blast around town. It cruises around 2800 at 55mph. It gets pretty good mileage at that rpm. The motor must just like that range. If you plan on going on trips I'd stick with 3:55. The 4:11 gets to me after about 45 minutes. Its a relief to get off the highway. The fun around town almost makes it worth it but I have a feeling it will get 3:55's eventually. HMMMM damn it flies with the 4:11's though.....
