Right now my car has wore out springs and shocks. I need to get the rear back up because the body will rub on the slicks. I am thinking of getting a set of springs rearched and new shocks. I believe that should stop the body from rubbing the tires but my dad disagrees. I am wondering if anyone has any ideas
RE-arched springs wont stand up to drag racing abuse for long...If you have a good spring shop near you, you can have em build you a new set of springs. Or you can purchase a set of springs from one of the companies that offer em like Espo or one of the others that have been mentioned here on the forum.
Man...Don't go the air shock route!! You'll end up ripping out the mounting bracket's,if not ripping out the entire plate itself!+ air shock's won't do you any good on the track.
What about doing the add a leaf mod? I think it was faceless number that posted the tread about using the leaves out of an Econoline van with the stock springs to make them stand up better....
I have thought about that too. I have another set of maverick springs and I thought of taking the middle leaf out and building a 4 leaf spring pack
I'm leaving my wore out springs and put'n in new wheel tubs so i can run a 275-60-15 that way it'll stay low like i want and with the worn leaf i get rediculous traction from weight transfer.
What tires you running? What's the backspacing of the wheels? If there just wrong then you just need the right stuff. Jacking it all up in the air isnt the answer...
not sure on the backspacing. They where weld wheels with 26x11.50 et streets. They stuck out about an inch on each side
on the cars body.the mounting bracket that the top of the rear shocks mount to.the brackets are bolted to the plate, and the plate is spot welded to the floor/trunk section.i've seen mavs/comets with both the brackets ripped out,and the plate ripped totally away from the body....all caused by air shocks.
