I just bought a pair of salvage yard E-150 rear springs to transplant in my 71 Maverick. I understand that the bolts are larger on the new springs. My question is, can I buy shackles for the larger bolt size and just drill out the holes on the frame to accommodate the bolts? I want to use the new springs and would prefer not to reuse the original main leaf.

Whats the eye to eye length compared to the Maverick spring?

That's what I figured, if you were to get it to bolt up, it would be pretty high in the rear. :Handshake

From what I have found on here, the lengths are almost identical and should work other that the size of the bushing bolt. It was a 6 leaf pack and I removed the 3 smallest leaves.

What is usually done is this: Spring are taken from the van spring pack, and added to the mavericks existing spring pack. Dont use the vans main leaf...

Right. I used the stock Maverick main leaf, although the Econoline leaf is the right length for it. The bushing is the issue. Maybe there is one that will fit but I didn't find it. I used the next two longest leafs from the van spring pack and it ended up just about perfect for me.
