What are the advantages to mounting the shocks behind the axle as opposed to both infront or staggered, with a leaf spring susp. Inquiring minds want to know
staggering is for handling. cornering etc. mounting behind is for straight shot draggin. has to do with the way the rear end loads up under thrust. 1 drive wheel, etc. 2 drive wheels. depends what ya wanna do.
calvert racing has a mono leaf set up. try the calvert site. don't know the link offhand. or type in caltracs.
I've always heard, "soft springs, tight shocks" (50/50 or adjustable on the rear). You can remove the shortest leaf, drill perch dowel hole in second one (mine was done this way when I bought the rolling chassis). source:http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/t...ot_tips_tricks_suspension_times/photo_04.html re: coilovers staggered I don't recall seeing any staggered coil overs myself. Seems they've all been located behind the axle housings.
