Well as some of you know my car is a daily driver it needs to be restored which I planned on doing this winter so I was driving in the rain today and came to a stoplight I stopped guy behind me didn't buckled the whole drivers side quarter panel now the door doesn't shut right as well as taking out the back bumper and taillight It's to dark tonight for pictures but I'll be sure to post some tomorrow.
Nope just wasn't paying attention and to fast for conditions he locked up his wheels and tried to turn but still got me
Yep it was his fault and he has insurance but we'll see what happens and no I dont have hagerty just regular insurance since the car isn't restored yet
Nope no one hurt I kind of had that oh sh*t moment because just as I stopped I looked up in the rear view mirror and had a second to brace I think if he would have hit me square in the back it might have been worse but he didn't thank god
Sorry to hear this. Your car seems like a really nice one too. Hopefully it can be brought back to a fine state. New rear quarter panels are one of the few repop items commonly available. You are going to have a fight on your hands with insurance. Don't let them try and throw a blue book value at you on your Mav. Have you ever had it appraised? If not, might want to try that. Dealing through your insurance policy is typically the best approach too. Don't mess with theirs ... they have all to gain doing that. Make sure you and your passengers feel OK. If anything seem a bit off, get checked up ... like today. Get documentation ... if a neck problem crops up later, it will help a lot (this is my own experience talking here ...2 year legal battle).
I dont' think that Hagerty, JC Taylor, or any of the classic car insurance carriers have a daily driver class of insurance.
Hagerty doesn't. In fact, you must have another registered and insured vehicle as a daily driver, and the car kept in a locked and secure garage.
As long as you are fine health wise....................that's the most important thing. The advise has been good, and like some people said get mentally prepaired for the fight with the insurance company......get as much supporting documentation as to prices of your a car in the condition it was before the accident from CraigsList, Ebay, or other on-line selling sites. I have had to do with our insurance company after my wifes car was involved in an accident. The insurance company wanted to give us $22k, and I held out for $27k plus they paid back our Calfornia Tax we paid when we bought the car. A number of years ago/a lot of years ago I bought my dads nice low mileage car after he passed away and was driving down a 4 lane street, the car in front of me stopped and so did I..................I usually look in the rear view mirror and just as I looked the whole mirror was taken up by an 18 wheeler.......................it didn't stop as fast as I did................lucky I wasn't hurt............but it still hurt knowing the car was damaged.
2 years of a fight is an awe full long time. I would say definitely 2 years IF it was a personal injury case and there were doubts as to who was at fault but when rear ended and no injury claim is filed they want to get to you RIGHT AWAY! the insurance company want to get out to you and get you to settle the case without injuries before you change your mind or before aches and pains set in. ITS IN THERE BEST INTEREST THAT YOU'RE NOT HURT! glad to hear a fellow comet/ maverick owner wasnt hurt
So after further review today the chassis is bent about 2 inches out of shape ;( tried to call the insurance but they where closed today so have to wait til monday heres some pics...
