    I am looking an answer to a long puzzling question. WHAT SIZE rear end would my 72 200 6cyl 3:03 tranny:confused: :hmmm: :90: :cussing:

    should be an 8".:)

    If it is still the original factory rear - it will be an 8" with most likely a 2.79:1 ratio. All Mavericks and Comets, except for the 1970 model year, came with the 8" rear. If your rear was swapped at some point in the cars life, look for a tag bolted to the carrier or cover. It will ID what it is and where it came out of.

    also if you get under it and can get a socket on all the nuts it is an 8". plus it'll probably have what looks like a little shield over the front of it. if you have to use a wrench omn the bottom 2 nuts then it could be a 9":)
