I got my X-mas Grant Steering wheel on today:smash: but once everything was put together everytime I would hit the horn button sparks would fly out at the head of the steering column. Made a phone call got an idea what I might have wrong, and realized that I had forgot to insert the bushing:banghead: I guess without the bushing in place everything was grounding to the column and causing the sparks, but now that the bushing is in place everything is working great.

So I guess it's just another one of those cases of when it looks like you can just through it together, you might want to take a look at the instructions first and save yourself the time :p

    Later Guys

Hey Dan if my last attemp wouldn't have worked I was thinking about it:mad: I hate haveing to take things apart 4 or 5 times when it could have been done the first time. But I would bet the passenger would have been alittle freaked out at night

Very nice-looking steering wheel. Grants are a bit small for my personal taste but I'm glad you are happy with it. By the way, you can easily knock-out the pin that attaches the column-shift lever. The "nub" will still be there but it will look a lot better for now until you can do the complete conversion...(y)

I guess in this case, you really can't take assembly for GRANTed without reading the instructions! :biglaugh:

    [Couldn't resist]!

    Nice wheel, Neal! :thumbs2:

    Neal,

Nice looking steering wheel. I was also admiring your speedo/tach combo. What type of gauges are those? Was it hard to install them in-dash like that? Thanks. John B.

    Thanks guys
T.L. it is going to take awhile to get used to the smaller wheel, I really like a larger steering wheel but that is the one I got for X-mas so I can't complain to much ;)

John those are Stewart Werner gauges, no it really wasn't that are to do, but unless you want to butcher your wiring harness under your dash I wouldn't do it. I can put it all back like it was if I wanted to but I had to snip alot wires and rerun alot of them too. And I would say the hardest part about those gauges was getting the gas gauge to work right, they work off of omhs (spelling) and they send you a sending unit to use but they wanted me to cut a hole in the top of the tank and I didn't want to do that, I guess if you had a fuel cell in the trunk it wouldn't be too bad but I wasn't going to cut a hole in my gas tank. So my dad and I figured out a way to get their sending unit (the electric part) mounting onto the original insert on the tank and made it work.
