ram air

    i was wondering if it was possable to use the grabber hood cowls for ram air and still maintain the screen look to it.

    Yes, either drill out the holes in the original piece or get a piece of expanded metal screen to fill them. Don't really think it would make a lot of differnce unless you make an air box under the hood to feed the intake though.

    The only good I can think of it doing is getting cool air in. The scoops don't catch enough air to have any noticeable performance increase.

    Like Jamie said ... in a Wind Tunnel the airflow probably hits front and goes right over the car so those scoops are probably in a vacuum and it would probably pull air out of them instead of force air in ...

    I have the ones in the 77 opened up, drilled them out then took a small file to make the honeycomb mesh as open as possible. the only thing I have noticed is that you get a few more bugs in under the hood,and a very slight amount of water if you get caught in the rain. I do think it helps a just a shade ,as far as extracting the hot air after the car has been running.I did it mostly for cosmetics.

    thanks for the info, i was going for looks rather than performance. for some reason the moter gets hot. i thought i could cool it down some with freash air.

    here is a set up i use and it works 3 tenths at the track i got it for 100.00 but i think it has gone up but 3 tenths for 100 is cheep its called the ram air box
