one way to find out FLOOR IT!..... under load with an automatic if I remember right, approx. 4500 rpm.(thats approx) maybe with a manual 4600. thats not saying you cant spin it higher, chances are it wont do more.
thats the thing when i floor it it wont shift into second unless i let off the gas. the tranny fluid does need to be changed but dont know if thats it. any suggestions?
About 3500 RPM. They don't make much power above that, if any. Remember, most of the I-6 engines were torquey down low, around 1500-1800 RPM, then signed off at about 3000. Even the 300 "big six" EFI is like that.
. Try adjusting your modulator valve, and if that doesn't work try adjusting your bands. If that doesn't work, you my friend, need a new transmission lol. Swap it out and put a 302 and a T-5 in it .
shift quick My trans (c-4 w/250 I-6) shifts out of first quick. I mean, you are not through the intersection and it's in second. I don't know if thats the way it should be, but thats the way it does. No tach, but shifts @ 10-15 mph. changed fluid and filter screen 1000 miles ago...........Robert
robert, that is slow. i can turn a corner and before i get straight it is in third. 250 6 with c4. doing the 302 with built c4 as we speak...frank...
could it just be i dont have a c4? on the 302 swap, i have an old 83-84 crown vic that has alowmilage 302, would that work?
