Has anyone bought/installed one of their complete front end kits, the one with the new upper & lower control arms with poly bushings? Was it worth the money, time saved? I've picked up a 75 with 85K on it and had my usual mechanic do a state inspection on it. Needs lower ball joints and one upper. I'm thinking while I'm in there might as well do it all at once. PST also sell a replacement spring perch. Since I'm new to Mavericks and haven't been under the car, or have a manual yet, where do they go and are they something worn out at this mileage. Note, I have a rattle in the front end that I haven't tracked down yet. Thanks in advance everyone. Rich K
I know this is not much help, but I have heard good things about them and I am buying the front end kit this winter. I would think with a 30+year old car that it definitely will help and there prices seem fair to me.
I bought the kit with all the bushings. I hated the upper ball joints. I ended removing them and throwing them in the trash. Personelly, unless your planning on road racing, I'd stick with factory rubber stuff available at any Mustang supplier.
Hve used the their kits on several cars. Only I used other pieces, sway bar bushings, end links and poly bushings on the shocks for better road control. Overall, I'd give them a A-.
spring perch hey, on the spring perches.......I did mine and it stopped the "grandma squeak" from the front end (unka unka unka sound)....but i also replaced the coil spring insulators........like $2 each or so.......and IMO a job left to the frt end shop....i spent several scary moments with a coil spring compressed and NOT compressed......(doesn't take long to let go) just to here from the alignment guy that he would've done it for $50........Robert
So what value does one put on life and limb? I used the spring compressor when I put in my new PST suspension (and drag springs). No doubt there were some tense moments. I did, however, chain the spring when I could. I've since lost 40lbs and developed a slight tck over that ordeal.
i have the pst kit on my 71 and am extremely happy with it. i did cheat and had a mechanic friend install mine. the mav now corners better than a new mustang. i also installed kyb gas ajust shocks on all four corners.
