If it is anything like the earlier Fords, i.e. Mustangs, there is a shear pin that needs to be removed prior to unscrewing it from the drag link. Plus the clamp thing.
is the shear pin that long metal rod that goes through the valve itself? if so how do i remove it from the drag link?
That picture does not show the shear pin, that is visible under the clamp. The pin goes through the drag link under the clamp. I have a picture at work.
DO NOT use a pickle fork to separate the joint. It will distort the sleeve inside the valve. ask me how I know. A good pitman arm puller or tie rod separator that wraps around the arm and forces the stud out of the hole from the threaded side is the best way. a little tight but do-able.
