finished up the install today. pulled the manual rack and installed a power rack, pump and a new serpentine belt. planning on road testing tomorrow. mocked everything up with a rebuilt rack and then sent it back and ordered a new one. the new one was 10$ more than the rebuilt... ...
I thought you were perfectly happy with the manual, wasted no words in past telling us how power isn't needed.
the Wife will be more comfortable driving it. with the long trips we take if anything happens to me (broken leg etc, etc) it would be easier for her to drive.
don't know but can see if I can find it. found it.... the manual was...4.1 lock to lock power...3 lock to lock
I test drove it on a couple of back roads and the interstate and it feels great. smooth/firm and no wandering...
Easier AND more comfortable for both to DRIVE. As one who has not driven manual steer since 73, would not consider it at this stage in the game. Smart move, converting to PS in case you can't drive for whatever reason.
the manual rack and pinion wasn't bad, it's not like standard manual gear box steering. I drove mostly with my hand resting on my knee and steering with my thumb.
At 5ΒΌ turns lock to lock, the standard manual system should have been easier to turn. Of course one could wear themselves out circling around a crowded parking lot looking for a space.
