Are the brake booster and master cylinder supposed to be cocked up and at an angle? I recently bought a 4 door with power discs in the front, and the booster and master cylinder really look like hell. Is this normal, and if it is, has anyone done anything to straighten it out and make it look better? How about shock tower braces, that thing looks pretty hideous too. Anyone have any good mods they've done in this area? Thanks.

thats what they are like with power brakes. If you dont like you can change to another system but it requires time, mods to the firewall and some ingenuity. ex GMC Metro power discs. good luck Ron

OH ya. Money and a standard disc bracket (with swing peddle and push rod for master) for under the dash instead of the power disc bracket under the dash. They are different brackets. :D

I'm gonna have to come up with something, it just looks like hell. When I put the setup on my 2 door, I'll have to figure out some way to make it look decent. Might have to rig up some custom linkage or something. To make matters worse, I need to put in a clutch pedal assembly with the attached brake pedal on my 2 door, and I'm not even sure that brake pedal was for a power brake car.

Mavericks with sticks never came with power brakes. I belive that the stock power brake setup will not work with the clutch linkage, etc. As far as making the stock booster look good in there, good luck. It has to sit at an angle because with the size of the booster and the master cylinder, it will not fit between the shock tower and the firewall. The only other option I have seen is to do the Geo brake booster swap. It fits between the firewall and the shock tower with no problems, takes up less space, and you can keep the straight shock tower brace on there. I have not done this swap, but I plan on it for the 70 Grabber. I did use the stock booster on my 73 and it works great. You get used to the looks of it after a while. :) If you ever want some help and I have a free weekend, drop me a line.

I just may take you up on that offer Corbin. One of these weekends in the coming months, I'll be swapping engines in my mavs. Send me a PM with your phone # and I'll hit you up. What dorm did you end up living in and how is everything working out? How do you like SLO so far?
