I have three old FOMOCO products a 62 galaxie, a 65 comet sedan and a 71 Maverick my question is about the Comet does anyone know if 65 mustang manual steering parts will work on a 65 Comet? I can find noone willing to help me with this information I want to delete the power steering off the car and run a manual setup all I have seen "kits" for are 65-66 mustangs or 66 and later fullsize cars. Lastly will a 6 cylinder equipped maverick need to have the suspension and brakes swapped out for a V8 swap? Where can I go to find this information?? Thanks -Brian

I dont know for sure but the early Comets were built on the Falcon plateform, which was smaller than the mustang. So I doubt any of the steering components will interchange. However, I believe the power steering part would be the same and if so, you could get one of those adapters that goes in place of the control valve. Then you could just keep all the Comet steering linkage intact, and just replace the control valve with this adapter. For the Maverick, you dont have to change the brakes for a V8 swap, however, disc would be the better way to go. Brakes can never be too good. All the suspension and steering is the same for the 6 and V8. The front will sit lower with a v8 and 6 cyl springs. But, the springs would only need to be changed if you want the front up higher. I always kept 6 cyl springs cause I like mine a little lower than normal.
