I won't use the second ring gapless design; used oil and smoked every time, no matter the prep.

I have not tried the top gapless sets. I have had great luck with good old plasma moly file to fits. Seat immediately, no oil issues.

I use the Total Seal Gapless rings on just about everything. Gapless top ring sets only. I have found that the gapless second ring sets typically wiped too much oil from the walls. The gapless top sets are very good but are a much more difficult ring to set up. They are also more expensive. If you have the time to spare then I suggest using them. However, if you don't like getting technical with the rings then go with a standard ring set.

On most of our N/A small block engines, I usually end up with less than 2% leakdown. This is typically carried over for several years. We have an 875 hp big block engine here that is five years old and has over 600 runs. We leaked it two weeks ago in preparation for the new season. 4% leakdown. All 8 holes.
