im gonna try and show ya pics of what happens when ya don't seat the torque convertor to the tranny before ya hook it up to the engine and fire er up.....lol....huge lesson learned here....
i did that before, when i had rebuilt my first engine.. on a 72 dodge charger se with a 318 i diidnt make sure the tourque convertor was all the way in.. blew out the tranny ... but it was a learning exp... this time.. when i did the mav engine.. i made sure 4 times the torque convertor was in all the way...
Worst train wreck I ever did see. (Don't feel bad. The shop where I had my Maverick at for a while did the same thing to mine - it was a lesson for them too. I'm still reminded of my ignorance to NOT look for a Pilot Bearing in the engine block when putting a 'new' motor in that had a manual tranny behind it)
i did that as well... nothing would move... finally discovered it.. but thank god i ddint start the engine like that... i couldnt turn the torque convertor to get the nuts on...
I wrestled with that sungun for HOURS trying to bolt it up. My buddy, who is an ace mechanic, came over and we both struggled with it another hour or two. He shat himself when I answered to his last-resort question, "Did this motor have a manual transmission behind it before?" :16suspect It took us another 1/2 hour to get the bearing out (drilled in four places then reached for the proverbial BFH ) Lesson learned. Good luck. Keep us updated on it's performance.
All the troubles you've had with that thing...man, I would have probably thrown in the towel by now. Look at the bright side though. At least you know how to work on a C4 now!
Ouch,Sorry but......they do say that "experience is the best medicine". I'm sure you'll have better luck next time. for a great learning experience though......
