Someone was asking for pics of the car in question.....We talked to the owner today--he is supposed to email us pics of the engine, back seat and floor boards. He said that it would be Monday before he could get them to us.

Considering the amount of work someones put into that car, I doubt it's anything major, could just need the front end rebuilt or aligned? Bent rim? Tire with a flat spot? anything..

I recall that car being on ebay.

i agree. probably something 'simple' judging by how the car looks and the amount of time and effort that someone has already put into it. nice car though... (y)

never pass judgment on the mechanical condition of a car based on how shiney the paint is. i could put a $4000 paint job on a hunk of junk and its still a hunk of junk but i'll be able to fool the untrained eye into gining me a load of cash for it.

not to say that car's hiding anything but paint condition is the very last thing i look at in my decision to buy an old car or not, but pretty much everyone i kno goes down my same check list but in reverse

I also agree. I doubt that someone would have put that much work into the exterior and interior of that car (and that is a BEAUTIFUL car!!!) and done shoddy work in the steering system and/or shock towers. I am still leaning toward the sloppy Ford Power Steering system which always has a bit of play in it anyways...

    (oops, posted after newtoford...)

it looks to me like a dealer and dealers haggle. i would offer him $3750 and see what he says. you could tell him it'll need front end work if it's squirrelly. looks like a nice car to me.:)

The sport mirrors look like later Torino style.
Notice they don't sit quite straight on the Maverick door.
Not a huge deal, the car is nice enough, but I don't think it was done by a true Mav enthusiast.

The add says "302", are you sure it's a 351w engine?
I know you had said you were told it was a 351 in the other post.
It doesn't really devalue the car either way, but it tells you if the person you are speaking with knows jack or not.

What about the interior, the wheels, etc. it's more than just a paint job. Maybe you should put a $4000 paint job on your car?

When we called and talked to him, he said that it was a 351 Windsor. I asked about the fact that the listing says 302--he said "I thought that it was a 302 at the time, but now I know it is a 351". When we started asking more questions, he said "I really don't fix them. I just buy old cars and re-sell them--and this is the first Maverick I ever bought."

As for the mirrors--IDK! :hmmm: You mean they took the orig mirrors off and put on mirrors from a Gran Torino??? Ewww. Why would they do that? :hmmm:

    Needs work, they all do.
I see evidence of rust on the driver floor pan. Seems to have a rusty color. The exhaust aint what I would want...looks like the diff spit everything out a while back...the stripes need to go since the lines arent straight (they are cool thou)...moons dont cost much... I could go on but I may be hated already. Hope all turns out ok! :drive:

I'm probobly wrong but the front end appears to be slightly twisted. Looks like it is sagging on right side, or maybe the left side has been pushed up slighty...:hmmm:
