Here's one for the gurus, I have a 71 red ( code 3 on the door jamb ) Maverick that I want to add a spoiler. Nobody has been able to match the paint, It doesn't have to be perfect as I know the car is 41 years old but it needs to be close enough that it doesn't stand out like a sore thumb. I called Dup-color and they have a code T, Cardinal Red and I wonder are they the same ? If not any ideas on who to call ?

I would go to a reputable paint shop with the car and ask them to match it.
Paint shops have a set of cards for almost every color, the cards have different shades of the same color. If not find a painter that can mix something close and have them shoot it.

That's what I did for the dash and dash pad. He got it very close. Looks good to me.

Many of the larger auto paint dealers have a scanner gun that will read the color of a panel and set up a custom mix to match it. Great to get a match on an older car that may have faded a bit from time.

You can take your rear extension off your car and take it in if you don't want to take in the whole car.

You'll never get it looking decent with spray paint, get a body shop to paint it for you, or someone that knows what they are doing.
