Mine runs about 190 degrees, with a 185 degree thermostat. It also ran that without a thermostat. Stock new 2 row rad, with a Ford flex fan.
Mine runs 180, sometimes if traffic is bad and weather is not cooperating, 185. Aluminum 3-row radiator, 180 degree high-flow thermostat, electric fan on a thermostatic switch, and several years worth of fighting a high temp running engine.
aluminum 3 row . . . with electric fan 195, without electric fan 197 but of course it'll heat up a lot higher in traffic without the electric fan.
the stock radiator will not take much in the way of modifications before it cannot keep up the cooling power to keep an even moderately modified 302 cool. I said "mod" too many times in that sentence. I moderately believe I should modify that sentence before a moderator comes in and deletes my post...
my car hit about 210 driving it and it would drop to 190 if I sped up. I have a 192 thermostat in it now. I am planning on putting a 160 thermostat in it to see if I can cool it down
My V8 has a 160 degree thermostat and it runs about 155 - 160 ALL the time. traffic hot weather the whole 9 yards it doesn't matter. I have one of the Champion Alum. Radiators. My 6 cyl. has the same radiator and it has a 185 thermostat and it runs right around 180
Ive got a 160 stat electric fan, alum 3 core rad and it all depends on the outside temp, If weather is cool below 90 ill run at 180 -190,If outside temp is over 100 and i run hard my temp will climb to 210-220..
