im planing on doing this just for safety.... the most logical thing to me was to move the washer tank and then put an overflow tank there... any thoughts?
Then what about the washer fluid? I used to have a small Jaz overflow container mounted to the rad support right next to the rad.
That's where I have mine mounted. It's a tall slender stainless canister so it looks like chrome too.
overflow tank. Well I had to be different. I mounted a fire extinguisher to the fender well where the horn was. Had the fire thing chromed and with the long tube inside it also serves as a recovery tank so that when the engine cools down it will suck back all fluids into the rad again.Drilled a hole in the bottom and tapped it and put in a drain cock also. Used a stainless tractor trailer exhaust clamp to mount fire thing. guage show full all the time and still has the handle on the extinguisher. It was a 2lb fire extinguisher. To top it off I put a NOS decal on it. makes every1 take a second look.Total cost including chroming was 42.00. see you all later.RON
That fire extinguisher is adding a lot of weight for an overflow. The after-market plastic tanks are cheap and easy to install. It should be mounted as close to the radiator as possible for best operation.
Ya and plastic will crack, and discolor from the hot and cold after awhile. The bottom of my fire extinghisuer is 1/2 in from the rad and the top of the fire thingy is 2in from the rad. close enough. It also meet all IHRA and NHRA standards, not that it only gets to the track 2-3 times a yr. Like I said at the beginning, I had to be different and this is a nice piece to talk about when asked. I use the cheap plastic tank from Autozone, zip tied to the INSIDE of the front bumper on the drivers side. Works good and gets replaced when it discolors.
