Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew what the original PSI was in the rear shocks, since I let all the air out when I replace my leaf springs. Thanks.

As Frank states, Mavericks and Comets did not come from the factory with air shocks. Air shocks are an after-market product. A previous owner of your maverick must have added those at some point.

When I first purchased my Comet it had air shocks. I left them on the car for several years with no issues. Several people on this website have had disastrous experiences with air shocks on our cars as they can force their way through the floor board if inflated and the vehicle is carrying a load either in the back seat or trunk.

In answer to your question, I put a minimal amount of air just until my Comet began to lift to provide some resistance. Or, you can replace the air shocks as I did with any number of products available for our vehicles.

Air shocks are only going to be a problem if they're jacking the car up till it has a noticable forward rake(I'm assuming no one will be totin' sacks of concrete in trunk)... I have them on my Comet and use just enough air to overcome a slight sag in the rear springs(approx 30-35psi)...

No doubt will be problems if using the old "some's good, more's better, so too much is just right"...
