ok ,guys and gals ,i got a call from the car show folks and they are giving me two options to go in . Option 1 class E street rod 1950-74 or they say if the 71 maverick grabber had less than 5000 v8s produced in 71 i could go into option 2 class H specialty-Rare/unusual what do you all think? Was there less than 5000 v8 grabbers in 71?

I would guess there will be fewer entries in option 2.

How many V-8's were made in 71? Do you have a Marti report? Does it matter that it's not factory stock?

no it does not matter that its not a factory stock v8 as long as it has the original v8 engine and original interior and pant ,i told them it has a 8 point roll cage due to the 1/4 mile times it capable of and subfram connectors and a 9 inch rear instead of the 8 inch . they were leaning toward class two depending on the number of v8s produced in 71 for a grabber ,they say i will fit this class as i would be the only grabber and a factory v8 car ,if less than 5000 were produced , thus the rare and unusal . I dont know if there were less than 5000 v8 grabbers produced in 71. They have another class for factory stock.

Thats why you need a Marti Report, or find someone that has one for their 71 V-8 Grabber, then if it came to it, you could prove the production numbers.

Yes ,i agree with you Dave ,i dont want to be in a class i dont belong in ,im not afraid to be in class E street rod ,i know ill show well ,they came to me with class h becouse im the only maverick grabber ,there is a maverick 6 cyl in the all stock class they told me ,but in there opionion the original v8 grabber for 71 if there in fact was less than 5000 produced would be rare and unusual. I need to know if there in fact was 5000 or less v8 grabbers produced in 71.

Hmmm, just for a point of reference, the Marti Report for my 73, states my car is one of 17847 with the same engine/transmission codes, and my 74 is one of 9143 with the same engine/transmission code. They were both V-8 with C-4's , so if you factor in the number of 3 speeds, I'd bet your over 5000. I was thinking, if you had to prove it, it would be handy to have.

I believe there was only 76,000 grabbers produced in 1971 and how many were v8 was the question. its quite possible that 5000 or less v8s were produced ,the rest could be 250s ,i dont know

    I have a 71 with a factory v8, that's 2. :D

I would guess well over 5000 Grabbers in 71 had v8's from the factory. Especially since it was the first year the v8 was offered.

The numbers I have are for Grabbers, not all Mavericks. Someone with a Marti Report for 71 will know for sure.

The Marti Report on my 71 Grabber states there were 38,965 Grabbers and 11,922 of them had the V-8.
