Ok. Engine is ready to start! Just have one lonely hose with nowhere to go. There are two hoses that come out of the firewall on the passenger side. One goes to the water pump, the other goes to ________? It is the same size as the heater hose that goes to the water pump...
Ready to start this bi%&8 :dancing:!!!

The second heater hose goes to a fitting in the top of the coolant passage in the front of the intake manifold. Need a picture?

That's the hose that feeds your heater core. Should be a place to put that on your intake manifold in the front, near the distributor if it's a V8.

You can see it better here, see the chromed fitting behind the thermostat housing?

Thanks for the pic! Yea, that's where I have that tree.. How are you getting vacuum for the transmission then? And can I do without hooking that hose up for now?

It's on the on the intake manifold behind the t-stat housing. I believe that "vacuum tree" goes on the t-stat housing where the plug is on top.

Hooking a vacuum hose up there would get you coolant into the engine and probably break things.

Look at the runners on the manifold and you can see which ones come from the carb, and would have vacuum. and which ones carry coolant between the heads and to the radiator.

The tree goes in the rear-most runner from the CARB, which will give you VACUUM.

You can't fill the cooling system till heater hoses are hooked up.

The "vacuum tree" thing is actually a valve, if it's in that spot. It does not provide vacuum, rather it opens and closes based on the engine temperature. Take that out and you'll find it goes into the water passage on the intake manifold, and the bottom of it is closed. It's for switching between manifold and ported vacuum for your distributor advance when the car warms up in stock applications, but you don't need it. Now take it to a parts store or hardware store and match the threads up with a fitting you can use to attach your heater hose. Mine came from Auto Zone on the blingbling aisle and was probably a Mr. Gasket or Spectre part. Use a fitting either on the back of the manifold behind the carb for your vacuum source, or the carb itself.

Wow! Thanks! I was just about to try and start it to see what happened. Guess I have to find a fitting for that.. I can't remember where it was hooked up to on the 250 lol

Thanks for all the info! Guessing I'll have to use a fitting on the back of the intake for the tranny. The only other vac port I have on the car is the timed vac port on the front left of the edelbrock 1406
