I was previously known on here as SERE Guy, but I found my old account from when I had my first Maverick shortly after highschool and I've decided to use it instead. I bought a 73 Mav about a year ago, and was working on that (Engine refresh and T5 swap) but decided the frame and body were too far gone to be worth restoring to me. Fortunately I was able to get a deal on a 70 Maverick (technically 69.5) from Doug Gow (a fellow member and great guy to do business with). Very excited to have another 69.5, as thats what my first car was. Bought the car from him in February and then gutted the 73 of everything useful and had it hauled off for scrap. I finally have a garage now and can work on my car at my convenience. Previously I was working out of the base Auto shop, and while having access to tools and lifts is nice, limited hours and paying for my own labor were not. The car right now is solid and drivable, and I've been taking it for the occasional cruise, but the suspension is sketchy, so that will be project #1. I plan on keeping this a driving project, keeping it on the road as much as possible, so I'm going to minimize any total teardowns that keep it off the road for extended periods of time (I'll try anyways). I'll start a project thread soon to track progress on it, but here's some pics for now. Sits pretty much the same as when I bought it, minus a few replaced bulbs, swapped in duraspark ignition from the 73 and other minor stuff to get it road worthy. Can't wait to tear into it!
I'd like to, but its unlikely. Between work and it being about a 5hr drive away. We'll see though. Right now I'm out of town for work and going crazy ordering parts so I can get to work on it when I get home. Redoing the rear suspension and detailing the rear of the undercarriage.
