My leaf springs are the 2 leaf spring setup and there is no strength..
and the shocks are air shocks but they arent good for traction

    here we go:yippee:

What shocks are good for nice hookup at the tracks?
what leaf springs from what car would be good and cheap to get from a junkyard that will fit

i bought a 79 granada 8incher and i need to get this thing going as cheap as possible

i want a 3.55 posi in it and i will be changing the leafsprings, shocks and driveshaft....to make sure that the car can handle it

also i will be getting some sub-frame connectors once it is all done..

    thanks for any help guys

Get new springs. If you're on a tight budget, Auto Zone and Advance Auto Parts have good gas-charged shocks for the rear at about $11.00 each...

i have heard several different opinions and want to get a consensus

    thanks

Buy the cheapest stock rear shocks available. Put on slapper bars, forget the frame connectors for now. Stock 302 with street tires don't need them, air shocks are for hauling heavy loads and don't compress easily, which won't transfer power to the tires. If funds allow, put 90/10 ratio front shocks for racing only, and remove front sway bar. Do Not drive this setup on the street!!!! Otherwise just do the rearend and slapper bars as mentioned, then go racin as is. Practice your driving skills and if the bug bites you, pursue it further. As with any hobby, expect to dig deep in the pockets to achieve your goals. That is why there are more spectators than participants at most sports events.

why remove the sway bar in drag racing....dont you want the frame to not flex?

90/10 racing shocks do what..? transfer weight more? or less?

im sorry if i ask a lot of questions...but thats what i do...i learn through other people....and i have been bitten by the drag racing bug a long time... my first was my 72 charger se with a 318 (way to under powered for that size of car) thats why i chose a nice light car that can have a nice small block with a lot of power.

and the money thing is not non-existent....just dont have a lot of savings and have to get small things here and there....

this weekend for instance i am getting the rear brakes, springs, and wheel cylinders for the 8inch rear end o got from a junkyard 2 weeks ago..

and then i am building a 'stand' so that its not on the ground.....

then i will clean it and take the third member out so i can get it done up....3.55 posi..

    thanks for the help

Add an extra leaf(from the granada maybe)on each side, cheap shocks slapper bars that reach all the way to to eye of the spring(otherwise they will bend the springs eventually)and look for v6 mustang too's and pintos for your 3.55's(if you don't have 'em yet).
