Hello my name is cody and i am just finishing up my 302 ho motor swap into my 1970 maverick. It is to the point where i have been driving it and the other day i had it up on jacks and noticed my oil pan wich is a factory style front sump oil pan has gouges in it from the nuckles on the ends of the center bar hiting it when i steer! is there a simple solution to this? im trying to avoid dinging my oil pan. I have manuel steering also. It only needs about a half inch drop to be safe.. Please help

What frame stands and motor mounts did you use in the swap? Is it a stock pan or like a Morasso?

The stock pan has a dimple on each side for clearance from the factory:yup: Does your pan have fresh paint scrapes from contact with the center link???
Are you useing the correct frame stands/motor mounts???

i bought factory style frame links and motor mounts and a reproduction factory style oil pan. the scrapes are fresh, the oil pan has factory style dimples. it seems like the dimples arent quite big enough? someone before me converted it to manual steering, so idk if that has anything to do with it or not ..

If the pan is a re-pop,its possible the clearance dimples arent big/deep enough.Only other thing I can think of is: It is concievable the center link was installed upside down. Not easy to do but doable...

Thank you ill need to take a look and see if it was installed upside down but i was kinda thinking it might be the oil pan too it was a cheaper summit oil pan, and if i were to ding it i dont have to ding it much but i dont know what kind of clearence i had between the oil pan and the windage tray i instaled. Also if they make some sort of different rod end that goes to the pitman arm to drop it that would also work do you know of anything like that? Thank You.. I checked and the ceter link is on the correct way but something else i noticed is it was converted to 5 lug also and maybe the steering stops dont stop it from turning soon enough?? due to the new spindles??
