Working on the 70 Grabber today and I found the buck tag in a place I have never found one before. When digging out the old seam sealer inside the shock tower - there it was - sitting in that little shelf area, under all the old sealer, rust and dirt. Pretty crazy, I didn't expect it there. Anyone else ever find one there? The top line is the VIN - model code 62A (no 62D code in 1970) - S code paint and A code interior. Anyone know what the T1 and the PRO are for?
That is an odd place, never see that before. Was it actually screwed in place? If not, a line worker probably just set it there before going to break or something, and forgot about it, and the car went on down the line with everyone else not paying attention to it and the seam sealer held it there all these years.
It was just sitting in there - laying down flat inside that little shelf like area. Could be just like you said - worker set it down and forgot about it. I just figured out the T1 - engine and transmission - 200 CID w/manual 3 speed Just need what the PRO is ???
Was there something called a Protection Group option? Bumper guards and or body side protective molding with color-keyed vinyl inserts? Taken from a 1971 Ford Mustang book.
None of that on this car. There are no special options at all - other than the Grabber package that FORD called the "special value package #2" PROmotional - for the GRABBER promotion?
That is not a complete body buck tag. Only about 25% filled out. Not sure why a Kansas car would have a body buck tag. Interesting??
Makes you wonder if they had them for internal factory use, and just trashed them normally instead of putting them on the car like the other plants did.
This makes you think just what is randomly hidden under the carpets or other places in our cars that some worker left there by mistake or just to leave something there on purpose.
could you imagine buying like a low mileage all original, little old lady Maverick from the original owner and pulling the carpet out and finding a dime bag of weed that one of the plant workers dropped while working on the car. That owuld be epic.... On a serious note when I buy a used car I always try to go through all the conspicuous places right away to make sure the previous owner didn't accidentally leave anything in the vehicle that might get me in trouble if I were stopped by Johnny Law. I have found some interesting stuff in used cars, nothing criminal to date but you never know, the one time you don't check might be the time that bites you in the butt.
Im sure they are. I was watching how they build 2010 camaros last night. And they have cards just like these that come with the car to the paint booth. It tells all the options the car came with.
