This is a '72 Comet with a Maverick front bumper and hood etc.

The grille looks different than any that I have seen on a Maverick.
Have I just missed this one or is it a rarity? Custom?

Picture is a little dark. Is it painted black and silver? Looks like a standard 70 grill

If it is molded in black, then it is from a 1970 Maverick Grabber, or a 1972 Maverick Sprint.

I have never seen a Maverick grille outlined in silver. This one has
silver all around and through the middle like the Comet GT grilles.

Kinda of hard to see that in the picture. I am a little confused, is it entirely silver? Because they came stock all greyish/silver. Can you tell if it was painted that way? It looks like it has the black headlight doors as well.

I think someone wanted to make it look like a Comet grill so they painted it black and accented it in argent.

    Doesn't look to bad!

They probably just painted it that way. I painted the grilles on both of my cars black and left the outline in grey. (Actually, my son painted the grille on the brown Maverick.) I just like it that way. That's probably all they did.

Robert. You've got a flat tire.

(Don't you hate it when people tell you that?
Especially if you already know? :D )

It's not really flat. That's the result of winter air reacting to summer air. Summer air is warmer and therefore it expands, where as winter air is much cooler and contracts, giving the apperance of a flat tire. You simply need to change the air in the tire. And that concludes todays BS physics lesson. On a more serious note, it does appear that the grill was painted that way.

Oh, I can see what you mean now. That is odd. It probably is just painted that way, but that's kind of strange.

No wonder it has such a rough ride!!

Actually, there's more than one flat on that car. I was going to mount new tires on those rims for the time being, but then I found a deal on another set of rims & tires for it. That deal seems to have fallen through.

Jean, truth be told, that picture was taken in the summer, but if you go look at the car right now it doesn't look any different.

Its just painted that way. A long time ago, when I was the only one who liked Mavericks, before the internet was invented, I experimented with that stuff before. I once painted all the horizontal lines argent, then tried all the vertical lines. Both looked pretty neat.
