    Hey everyone,
I'm glad I found this site! It's awsome! I still own my first car which is a 71 comet 2 door 302. I bought it in 1985 with 50,000 mi on it when I was 15. I lived for that car. In 1996 a 19 year old girl hit my car. Her insurance paid for it but at the time they couldn't find the parts I needed. So the comet sat in the garage and outside for the next 9 years.(out of site out of mind)
Just resently I found a body shop that would work on it when ever they had time and I could pay them monthly. He is doing an incredible job removing every body part and piece of chrome from the car, painting it seperatly and putting the car back together.(I'm still looking for a good hood)
While the comet is at the body shop I am rebuilding the 302. I just ordered Edelbrock RPM heads, manifold and cam. I already had the carb.
After all these years of my Comet sitting around collecting dust and now I can't wait to get it on the road and to the shows again.
I'll try to post some pics but I'm not sure how to. I'm sure someone here will show me.
    Thanks, Scott

This is when it left for the body shop

    Hi, Spillman.
    Welcome to the board.
Be prepared. Someone is going to ask where you found
your rear window slats. They are a curious item that is
    not seen often.

I got some parts from a guy here in NC-salvage yard. He
has a decent hood from a Comet. It is still on the car.
I may have a pic of it.
He may be willing to ship it via truck. I am not sure.
I guess it depends on how bad you need it. Let me know
if you want his name and number.

Best of luck with your resto. Keep updated pics coming
and consider joining the Int'l Maverick/Comet Club.

Aint after pictures supposed to look better than the before pictures? Oh well, looks like a nice car. Those rear window are really rare. I saw a set on Ebay go for big bucks. Keep the updates comming. Where in FL are you? I have lots of family down there.

I got the window slats from JC Whitney years ago. Seth I'll let you know about the hood. I'm trying to see what kind of prices and condition I can find.
Mavaholic, The damage is on the passenger side and there is some quarter size rust holes on the body.
Can anybody tell me where to find the marker lights on a Maverick that are under the front bumper. I don't see them on all Mavericks.

They were only on 1970-1972 Mavericks. They were never on a Comet. They mount to the front bumper on a Maverick. The Comet bumper does not have the provisions for mounting these lights.
