I have a new 8' posi with 3.55 gears. When it warms up after a few miles it makes a squawking sound when I turn. Will this stop or is something wrong? I set up a drain plug on the rear end so I'm going to drain and start over with some posi additive and then replenish the oil.

I would try a bottle of additive, probably no need to drain the oil.

Could it be the tires from a very tight clutch setup ?

Depending on type of posi unit you are useing, some do make a little noise around corners.Detroit lockers for one. They like to click and clack from time to time. The clutch type generally are quiet.Just something to consider.

did you have posi treatment in it to start with? definitely runs quieter with it. and works more efficiently.:)

This is an old picture, and I have since put in an allen-head screw so it sits flush with the bottom, but I just drilled and tapped into the bottom of the housing. I think it was a 3/8" pipe thread...

Those were side pipes, I have since sold those off, put on side exit exhaust and glass packs, and now have dual flowmaster super 44s dumping at the axle....

Like I said, it was an old picture.

here is a newer one...You can see the recessed allen plug in this one too.

With the pumpkin out, I off set my hole to miss ring gear, weld 1/8 in plate inside rear where hole goes and drill an tap for a engine drain plug with the magnet. There still is some gear oil left inside, but magnet will reveal if it needs pulled. Sorry for no pic's,,,someday I'll get the hang of it an post thousands!
