Got myself a new parts car this evening, good price too. The guy has a 71 Mav Drag Car with no bumpers, Junkyard near me has a set on a 69.5 mav, 95 bucks and I got a parts car. Bumpers where not great, but good enough for a drag car. Parts car has bucket seats, five bolt front and rear, good kicker panels and rear panels look ok. Opened up the trunk and was it loaded. Heads for a 289, pistons, electrical stuff for something. Car has no motor or tranny. Going to clean out the trunk later and see if there is anything good in there. Oh, it has some nice ladder bars on it as well. I'll post some pics later today. Gotta get some sleep, if I can.

Heres a pic I borrowed from his listing. Hope he won't mind. The hood is gone, didn't like it and he did.

Told yeah, I couldn't get any sleep tonight, I just want to start digging through that trunk. Found a slot mag with tire in the back seat covered by a car cover (torn).

Hey. Not nice to be stealing those Arizona cars. Bring it back.:D Since that was a drag car, does it have an 8" or 9" rear in it? Good deal.:)

sure it's a '71? if it's the same car as the pictures, it looks like a 74-77 with that big bumper on the front

Its a 73. The seller has another mav, a drag car and he needed bumpers for it.

Visually how do you tell if its a 9 inch? Dumb question, but I don't know. Yes, it is a Arizona car but its got some serious cancer in the rear quarters. Found a insurance card inside, came from Phoenix.

As for identifing what rear in is in it, doesn't look original. Do 8 inch rears have a pinion cover? let me know.

Nope, neither 8" or 9" rear ends have covers, but the 8.8" does.

it's an 8". you can remove the bottom two stump bolts with a ratchet and socket... a 9" can only be removed with a wrench on these bolts. and unless someone put the big bumpers on this car, then it's a '74 and up. '73 had a small rear bumper and a 'medium' sized front bumper with a valence.... what's the VIN?

vin starts with a 3 so that tells us its a 73, but there is no other data plates on the car to find out when in 73. upon further investigation, it is a 8 inch rear, I love the internet. some parts will be saved for my comet, and some parts I will offer here. thanks everybody.
