    Hello Everyone,
I found you guys after recently finding and buying a new '71 Comet GT. I have lots of questions which I will spring on you as time goes by. I have a picture of my new toy which I will try and share if the picture thingy works(I don't have a web site or way to host pictures). Also will sell you a 4 door Mav which I also have a picture of that I just bought for the engine. The car is relatively straight and has front disks and a good interior should anyone be interested. Anyway hello, I've been reading your Forums and have really enjoyed it. I can't wait to stir things up a little bit. Talk to ya later.
    Dave from Dallas

Welcome aboard Speedy! Always glad to see those GT owners out there to find us! My second car was a 74' GT, I don't have it any longer . . . the frames rusted out, but it was a great little car!

Thanks for the welcome guys. I'm going to have to take some more pictures. The ones I had were too large. It's a pretty good car. I bought it from the second owner. It's all original down to the paint. The body is straight and the guy I bought it from said it had a thrown rod in the 250 six cylinder. After I got it home I found it to have a broken cam gear. So I went to the local police auto auction and they had a '76 Maverick. I pulled the motor out of that a couple days ago. Hopefully I will have the Comet running shortly. I suppose the Comet would have been more cool if it had a V8 or a standard transmision, but I can do that at some future time if I so chose. I'm kind of pumped up about building a cool six. I've found where they make some really good speed parts for them. I'm thinking I will just get it up and running for now. I'll be working on it some today and will get a few pictures. I'll be hitting you guys up with some questions later on. I guess the thing I'm needing right now is the Ford part number for a gasket set for the 250. I understand that the new aftermarket gasket sets have a thicker head gasket in them. I would like to see if I can find a NOS Ford gasket set. So if anyone knows what this number is let me know. Thanks and talk to ya later.

Here's another try at the picture of the Comet. As you can see it's going to take some work but it's straight enough to be worth it. The guy who had it before me put a small dent in the left front fender so he replaced it with a fender off of another car but he gave me the original fender and it can basically be popped out to work and still retain the original paint. I haven't decided how much I want to do to it. It's just been over a decade since I've been able to wrench on a car and I really need a project. I guess it's a Comet for now. It looks like it will be a fun toy. So, what do you think?

Here's a shot of the car with the front disk brakes that I want to sell. I'll probably put this one in the for sale forum.

I guess so. Mine's stock and original all the way down to the bone. Engine: 250 six. I think the GT only gave you Bucket seats, sport mirrors, a hood scoop and a stripe kit.

You know ........everytime I see a picture of a 71 comet GT I get the urge to get a stripe kit and put it on again . The last time I checked I couldnt find a place to get the stripe on the side that is basically straight . The later cars had a stripe that sort of went around the wheel wells .

Where would I look for a kit these days ?

Nice car . I hope you intend to keep the hubcaps on too .

Several of the graphics companies carry the early and late stripe kits for CometGT's. When I had my car painted I bought a stripe kit but decided not to put it on, I later sold it on ebay. Let me see if I can find the company I bought it from......
