hey guys ive been looking around for a couple years in the forum but never joined and i thought that now would be about time. One question guys, at the end of the month ill be picking up a 72 grabber my questions is....the car is 750 miles away do you think it would be ok on a tow dolly pulling it with a 07 jeep grand cherokee??? Ive pull a boat for about 300 miles but this is a whole lot more...any comments/suggestions welcome Thanks
I pulled mine home with all four wheels on the ground, with a tow hitch hooked up where the front bumper was (front bumper was removed, hooked up triangular tow bar to front bumper mounts). I towed with a 6 cylinder toyota truck. No problems. I see no issues with a tow dolly as long as trans and rear are sufficiently full of oil, and it is in neutral. Where you towing from and to? Houston area, myself.
I use a tow dolly a lot if the car is auto haul it from the rear or pull drive shaft if Manual just put in neutral. Tow Dolly's are great just tighten your straps and check them after a bit thy will loosen up a bit after the initial tighted then your good. Ohh and don't back up a dolly with a car on if it has a swivel deck u will bend the dolly. Hope this helps
I prefer all four wheels off the ground, if you can get it up onto a trailer. But a dolly should work in a pinch.
it would be from MO to TX Humble to be specific....what kind of speed can safelly drive with the dolly.....is 750 miles each way....kind of wanna get it done in a weekend
We haul salvage car from Boston to Nova Scotia from time to time with a dolly if the cars arnt to damaged and I drive the speed limit in good conditions. Just drive it buy feel u are using a full size truck ?
That is a nice drive!!! I don't see any reason why you couldn't pull it off. If the rearend is in good shape and lubed up, you shouldn't have any issues. If you are concerned, rent a u-haul car hauler. Get all four wheels up, and go as fast as that jeep will pull it!
i tried but is says the jeep can haul the trailer but the dolly is fine....weird parts is if a get the dolly here for 3 days is like $80 if i rent the dolly there and drop it here is close to $500....im just gonna rent it here and dont mention how far im driving it lol
Yeah, they are weird about dropping it off in another location, especially another state. Keep it at the speed limit and you should be fine.
