Hi. I have been watching this forum for a few months but finally introducing myself. I brought into Australia a 74 Mav from CA a couple of months back and looking to get it up to standard soon. After market front seats to replace the shot unknown model buckets adapted poorly into it as well as a good tidy up or carpet etc. Being in Aus it is hard to keep her original but I like the thought of a resto mod to save on stress. Its a 74 302 auto ac pwr steer and a couple of other options. Will be asking a couple of questions in the forum so if I trip up on etiquette I apologise in advance. Not real experienced in forums so I will do my best! Cheers. Scott.
from Northeast Pennsylvania Looks like it is in good condition - how expensive is it to have a car shipped to Australia?
Welcome from Brisbane mate. Your car looks like a tidy one and I'm sure you'll add your own personal touches. A lot of suspension parts etc are tha same as our falcons. Good luck with everything
from Atlantic Canada. That looks like a nice clean car. If I could offer one small piece of advice... I would move the "Maverick" emblem in your grille down a couple of notches so that it is centered horizontally with the cross-hairs in your turn signal. I see a lot of original Mavericks (mostly Grabbers), including my own, that came from the factory with the emblem mounted "high". Of course, if you like it there, then that's perfectly fine too. Just trying to be helpful, not critical...how am I doing??
Hey thanks mate. Yes the suspension is fairly tired. XR stuff or later? Your car is veery nice. Have seen it somewhere on web. Might rack your brain re compatible parts when funds, time, work, kids, wife, weather permits! Cheers
Good mate. Didn't cross my mind but may duck out to the garage for a look. Any ideas are good. Need all the help I can get! Cheers.
Hey. I did it for under 4k all up including taxes, tows in the US and here, bank transfers etc etc. It was a little cheaper than the 70 GT Torino and 69 AMX a few years before. If i am ever silly enough to do it again I will do it all myself and safe maybe a grand minimum. Sometimes though that little bit you save can save alot of headaches. Thanks for the kind words mate. Cheers.
Yes XR- Xd suspension stuff works. The cosmetics are the hard bits to get hold of-That's where all the gentlemen on this forum come in handy. I'm running Xd clevo front springs ans saddles, Evan looks like ball joints look like Xp falcon, the shocks I think are the same as early mustang, but in saying that, new components are readily available in the US and full steering components are cheap,
