I am new to the forums and figured I would stop in and say, Hello. I have recently acquired a Maverick through a friend who is moving overseas and can not take it with him. I will be posting pictures of the car to get some help in identifying the year, etc. It is in poor condition and needs major body/interior work. The guy said he had it running (lol) not too long ago, however, he bought a new 302 to drop in it and it's still on the hoist in his garage. I know little to nothing about cars so I'm fairly certain I'll be filling these forums up with questions. This seems like a friendly and knowledgeable community and I am glad to have stumbled upon it. Josh

Welcome to the board. I believe most AF bases have a hobby shop for auto work. At least the bases did when I was in the service. Look at the vin number under the windshield on the drivers side. The first number is the year of the car. ie3=73, 4=74, etc.
Welcome! I beleive Don's right on the auto hobby shop on base, I know we do here at Hill A.F.B. and I been told it's pretty cheap for use of there bay.
Randolph AFB did when I was on Active Duty. I had the old M38A1 Military Jeep with the 289 in it then and I got to be GOOD friends with the civilian running the auto shop on base. If they still have them I recommend taking the guy a 6 pack this Friday evening and getting to know him. Hopefully he will be the same type of grouchy old cigar smoking, cussing ole SOB like ran the shop on Randolph. That ol man could fix just about anything with a pari or pliers and bailing wire. lol Welcome to the site. What is your...AFSIC? Is that even right? Been a while. lol clint
