    Hi Guys,

My old carter rbs is giving me a lot of problems, i buy rebuild kit for it every 6 months or so, and im kinda tired of it, what carb will fit on my l6 250 maverick 77 ? It cant be holley or edelbrock, or any other aftermarket carb because they dont sell it on my country, it need to be from another old car, chevrolet or ford, i dont care, i just want another carb. Greets.

might try buying a Holley factory carb from someone on here that would be willing to sell theirs and ship it to you...

I can buy a holley or edelbrock, my only problem would be the maintenance, theres a lot of problems right now here in the country with the gas, we are one of the biggest oil producers in the world and we are importing gas from brazil, go figure. Im sure a holley would be dirty on my car in 1 month, thats why i need several choices from old cars. Thanks.

A stock carb from a 1969 or 70 250 would be a real good update for your car. They are tuned to run without the EGR system and provide a lot more usable power without increasing the fuel consuption.

First of all, since you are in South America, what head and intake type do you have? Do have the head with intake cast onto it (can't take it off) and looks like a log or do you have an Argentina setup with a removable intake?

I don't have the part numbers off the top of my head - they probably wouldn't be the same there anyway but if you asked for a rebuilt or new carb at the parts store for a 70 maverick with a 250 you would probably get the right one.

Your choices are limited to rebuilt 1-bbl carbs or a 2-bbl conversion. Several have dones this swap:

I may have a 2-bbl conversion setup for sale in the next couple of weeks.

The Carter RBS seems to be the choice of most with six-bangers. Check out this forum:

    Fordsix.com

Losts of good six cylinder info there.

Someone told me about pickup Chevrolet C10 year 79 carburetor, it came with a 250 motor too, ill check if that actually works. That 2bbl conversion looks very good except for the hole on the hood part, i really need to check if everything will fit before buy something and i dont have to drill a hole on the hood. Thanks for your help :)

If the conversion is done right there doesn't have to be a hole cut in the hood.
