Looks like I will be putting in a 5 lug rear end and changing over the front to 5 lug discs.Hopefully get to do it all on Monday. I got all my stuff from a 74 mav. I have the master cylinder(non power assist), the porp. valve, front hubs w/spindles(have packed bearings and replaced pads, turned rotors, and replaced claipers with new ones). The rear axle is complete with brakelines. I will be putting on 8x15 Cragar S/S on all 4 corners, with 255/60 in the back and 225/65 in the front.

My question is am I missing anything, or do you have any tips before I start this project. And can this be done all in one day? Thanks ahead of time for any suggestions.

    Kevin

It would look good with 255/60 on the rear. The 225/65 "might" be a little tight on the front, depending on if you have dropped it or not. I put a slight drop on mine, and 215/60-15 and Cragar 7" front, and at one point in the turn, I am getting within 1/4" of touching the bottom front lip tip of the fender. I have the 8" cragars on back with 245 and it really has a nice beefy look to it.

Run a calculator and find out how "tall" the 225/65 is compared to the 215/60 and make sure you have the room. Of course, all cars tend to handle tires differently, so it might be fine on yours.

As far as the rest of your question...I don't have the experience there to help out.

Good luck. Sounds like you got a good idea of where you are going. Let's see pics of the final mounted tires. I am thinking of going up to 255/60 rear and maybe 225/55 front, for a wider, but not any taller front tire. Just experimenting at this point.

Thanks for the input. The reason I'm using the 8 inchers is that is what I have off of another car I had. I sure hope they fit. I promise pictures as soon as it is finished.

Brake pedal push-rod will have to be replaced with a shorter one...

Which pushrod do I change to? What is the difference. They are both manual systems.

Difference is the brake pedal and geometry. You need a rod for the manual drum master cylinder. Otherwise, your pedal will be incredibly high...

Or....You can use a later model brake pedal, but it will require machine work, since the plastic shaft-bushings will not fit in it, and if you leave them out, there will be tons of slop (side-to-side motion)...

What you are saying then is to use the pushrod from the drum brake master cylinder in the disc brake system.

What is the trick in getting the rods out? Or is there one?
