I'm installing a pair of Sport Mirrors on my 1970. Where does the driver's side remote mirror adjuster - mount?
Can someone give me a location and measurement reference locations?
    Thanks!

Does anyone know if the 1774 gasket (RH mirror) is available anywhere?

I have Mustang II Sport Mirrors, they have a slightly different gasket. The cheapest I found Maverick gaskets were $29/pair if I recall correctly. I got a pair for $9 from this ebay store that were the exact replacement for the mirrors I have (I only had one also). Maybe you can find a 1774 there. Took me a while to find the gaskets.... Good luck!

If you haven't mounted the mirrors to the doors yet, you might want to look into revising the position a bit forward from where the factory placed some of them. It will give you more of a view in the mirrors. If mounted further back, the viewing angle for the mirror shrinks, and I personally like them tucked a bit closer to the A pillar when you look at the car from the side. A caution is that if you move them too far forward, they start looking like Dumbo ears when you look at it from the front.

Here is what I came up with ....

I might do that eventually Captain Comet... I don't have any touch up paint yet. So.. it'll have to wait.... :) Are your mirrors Maverick Sport mirrors? The reason I asked is I believe mine are Mustang II and someone said they tried to make them work but the angles were just not right for the Maverick. Not sure what angles, but your mirror appears to be lower on the outside than the inside (horizontal angle).... just wondering.

Yes. These are Maverick Sport Mirrors. I'll be mounting them, over Memorial Day week-end.
To those who replace their factory chrome mirror, and mounted their Sport Mirrors to the suggested location: are any of the original screw holes (the ones that were for the chrome mirror), used or at least covered by the Sport Mirror base? (Drivers side).

I think the rear original hole will remain, just find a little rubber/plastic plug for it until you can get it fixed proper.

If you install the Sports Mirror according to factory instructions, you use the existing front nutsert, the hole for the cable lines up, the existing rear nutsert gets covered up, and you have to make a new rear mounting point. I highly recommend nutserts (you may also see them called rivnuts), and I think I got mine from Ace Hardware.

Now if you follow how I placed the mirrors, on the driver door, I re-used the REAR factory position, made clearance in the gasket to get the cable through, and made a new front mounting point.

I like to make a plate and weld nuts to that plate and pop rivet that plate to the inside of the door. No more rivnut turning with the screw, just my 2 cents.
