Ok I am getting a performance automatic c4. If I get a hughes torrque converter 2500 rpm stall , 26 spline with a 11.5" bolt pattern will I need a 157 tooth or 164 tooth flywheel. Does it matter? Will either tooth properly engage my starter?

    Thanks

What bellhousing do you have? The small one or the big one? if you have the small bellhousing you need the 157 tooth flexplate, and the 10 1/2' bolt pattern. If you have the large bellhousing you need the 164 tooth flexplate and the 11 7/16 bolt pattern.(11 1/2") Also, I believe your engine block plate must match the flexplat. Summit sells one that is capable of being used for both flexplates.

This is a pretty good site. http://www.mustangcentral.net/tech/c4.html :)

I dont know what size flex plate off the top of my head but i used the stock one(since i had already had it balanced with the rest of the lower end and was still new). one thing though my PA has only been in for a couple years with very few miles on it and it is leaking from the shifter shaft/band adjustment bolts/ and bottom pan gasket >( i like the tranny other than that but am probably going to have a local guy i trust fix all three leaks for me since they drip right on the headers and smoke like a mother.
