hey guys im not sure what the part is called im very new to this car but i cant get in place it runs from the driver side spring to the firewall its some type of support beam but i cant get it to go in place here is a link to what it looks like (its the black bar in the top right corner of the image) http://image.mustangmonthly.com/f/2...1_mustang_and_maverick_grabber+302_engine.jpg please help me i think its pretty important. Update: here's my exact problem https://www.t-mobilepictures.com/myalbum/photos/photo32/9f/ed/748379c77d42__1281449788000.jpeg i cant seem to get it in place it wont line up by about an inch
yea its more than likely bent i wouldnt think your frame would be that wrecked and not know it. just post a wanted add on the forum and im sure someone has it for you
i already got a new one the shock tower brace is fine came off an old junked one beleive its having this issue cuz its been sittin gfor so long. thanks everyone ill just have to try different things
jack up the front of the car on the belly bar. this is the bar that runs under the motor from frame rail to frame rail. let it sit up like that for a while. then try puting the bar in. if that doesnt work you will want to get or find some one with a portapower. its a hydrolic ram that you can put between the shock towers and push them apart with.
Make sure you got the brace for a Maverick or Comet! The Mustang and Fairlanes are different. If your car is jacked up,set it on it's wheels and see if that helps. As was said before loosen the bolts and nuts at the firewall. You may even have to remove them, install the forward end first, then use a pinch bar to line up the rear. If the car was driven without the brace the spring towers can get out of line. When you are done make sure to get a front end alignment!
hey guys im going to jack up the car tonight and let it sit i think thats the issue and afterwords i will get an allignment hopefully this method works! the shock tower brace is off the same year maverick so it should work just fine. also when i jack the car up and loosen all of the bolts the shock actually wants to be pushed down shoul i lower it or leave it?
okay for future ref. what i did was loosen all of the bolts along the driver side quarter panel and the 3 bolts around the drum were the spring sits in then inched it in. the reason it looked so far off was cuz the bolts all had shifted from sitting without it for so long. so thank you everyone for all your help! https://www.t-mobilepictures.com/myalbum/photos/photo06/1a/60/cb98edd7ca26__1281607024000.jpeg
