I have been researching and gathering information more than anything for the past 3 or so weeks since I got my Maverick. Since I began this mission, I have changed only slightly. Instead of the Boss 302 I wanted to build, I found a `71 2V 351 C instead. I also got a set of 351 C 4V heads, the `70 model closed chamber heads. I bought a 4 speed toploader from a friend of mine, and this past weekend I brought home a complete Mustang II front frame section, manual rack, etc. I found that Speedway sells all of the peripherals for it, including strutless lower control arms, tubular uppers, and 11 inch disk brake kit. All these will find their way onto the car when I get the crossmember installed. I likely wont be starting this project until after Cruisin the Coast is over.
Tonight, I finally got my 9 inch housing welded up. I used a truck housing with the triangulated banjo section, shortened it several inches, and used the Maverick 28 spline axles for now. I have a 4.56 gear and spool in it, and will be changing it out for 31 or 35 spline axles and spool soon. The Maverick parts car I got from Ray is giving up its inner rear fenderwells for a slick mini-tub job on my `70. Again, I wont be disabling the car until after October, so I wont have photos until then. Anyway, the plan is coming together fine, all my parts gathering is coming along better than I hoped. I have a total of 450 in all of the engine, trans, etc. Not bad for one days work. I also got my Weld Rodlites last week. I got 15X4 and 15X8s. I'll wait until I have them on the car with the tires to show pictures. I will say that they really, really look good.:yup: Sadly though, it will still be saddled with 200 6 power for a while longer. More to come....
