Just got this delivered today from guy on eBay. There was a previous link in the forums discussing it. http://homepage.mac.com/dmhines/PhotoAlbum32.html It is very dirty but there is no rust what-so-ever that I can find on it. All original paint, stripes and everything. You can see on the windshield sticker it was last on the road in 1996. I rubbed some Wax and Grease remover across the hood since someone had waxed over the Hood stripe and it looked pretty bad. You can also see where I hand buffed a small section of the roof and it shined up nicely. If it cleans up good enough I am gonna try to preserve the original paint and stripes ... Dan
The car is a 200/C4. Will eventually sport 5-lug with disc's, 1968 built 302/V8 and 4-Spd Toploader out of a 1965 Shelby Mustang with a 8" 3.25:1 Posi. I have a ton of NOS, Repro and refurbished parts waiting to go in .. http://homepage.mac.com/dmhines/site.html Dan
Would that be Ford bright red #3?My first car was a Maverick with the color code 3 (bright red) .The previous owner had washed it down with mineral spirits because he was "thinking about getting it painted". When I bought the car it was completely FLAT red. I waxed it with Raindance paste wax,and everyone I knew thought I had gotten the car painted! It had an unbelieveable shine. about once every 3 months the car would start to fade a little bit and I`d have wax it again to make it look "fresh painted"! I had a buddy with a `71 Mach 1 with the same #3 paint that was the same way.
Dan; Nice cache of parts. Do you mind sharing how you got that steering wheel and horn center combination? Will it work with thw stock horn set up? Thanks. John B.
Yeah - that is the NC car with the smashed rear spoiler - The underneath of the trunk lid is still glossy red so it's a shame it got ruined. That is a Mustang II steering wheel with an NOS emblem from a Door Panel inside. I simply removed the standard Stallion emblem and replaced it with the Maveric Emblem. As long as the Steering wheel is from a Mustang II it will work with the Maverick Turn signal switch. Other wheels of this type fit the column but will not deactivate the turn signal ... Dan
Dan...look in the eastern sky tonight...you see that green glowing light...thats me green with envy lol. Its gonna be a great Mav. Where did that console come from...looks sweet.
Lincoln Versailles Console ... Once I get the hurst shifter installed I'll see if there is any way to get it in. Might have to use a shorter straight throw shifter instead of the longer L shape one that is standard for the TopLoader. Only problem is that the shift handle is welded in so I would have to cut it and weld a short throw shifter on. Already got the short throw shifter so it will work out one way or another ..
Pretty neat that someone from the board eventually got the car. It is a nice car and sounds like you are going to turn it into something really nice. Dan
Thanks. The only dissapointment is that their is 0 documentation that went along with the car. I'm gonna give the daughter of the original owner a call and see if I can find anything. My only hope is that I find the build sheet hiding somewhere during the restore ...
