Either one is in backwards ... or you have two for the same side. Each side is a unique mount ...

I believe the motor mounts are the same but the frame mounts are different.:)

If the frame mounts aren't as Dan said, then one of the engine mounts could be wrong. A Maverick uses identical mounts on each side. They are same part number and can swap side to side. If one of your mounts is different than the other, the engine can lean. I had that issue with an engine swap once. The mounts looked almost identical, however one was correct, the other was a Stang mount. It caused the engine to sit lopsided.

Make sure both engine mounts are identical part numbers.

thanks guys, i do know that the right side mount had a round tab sticking up through the center of the mount, i was told it was there because thats the torque side of the engine?? other than that they look the same, i'll have to pull them again and check the numbers on them.

Most SBF car mounts look identical.
It's the little differences, that you don't see at first, that will throw you off.
Often the ears will be a tiny bit taller on one car, or the bolt holes will be on a little different 'elevation'...

Oh, and if you bought both mounts at the same place, where you asked about the difference, then they are messed up... The mounts are identical. There is no 'torque side' when it comes to mounts. One is built like the other and you use it on either side.

left side is the side where torque is most prominent(I have broken MANY left side motor mounts) Rather I should say the left side is the side that will break since the engine is Pulling up on the left mount and pushing down on the right.

all right guys, I FOUND THE PROBLEM!!!! you'll all laugh at me, but i'm still learning give me a break eh? so one of the mounts was the correct motor mount the other one was incorrect and was 2-3 inches taller!! i got my refund from napa and they replaced them with some new ones that were both the same. i've been fussin' with this mount problem for 3 days now, so much relief to have the right ones in there and all done with that..now onto my electric fans..

The other members are correct on the motor mounts being the same part #'s but there IS a left and right side mount, they can sway from side to side but dont! The driver side mount should have a bolt that goes through it (looks like a bumper bolt head on both sides) this is to keep the engine from lifting way up in case of a mount failure (in case the rubber tears). The passenger side mount however is just solid rubber and has no bolt through it. Just make sure you have them in the correct place or your engine will go flopping around in the event of a driver side mount failure. :thumbs2:

Yeah, the engine will 'torque over'...
I was just saying that there is not a specific "torque side" engine mount.

Stock mounts didn't have this feature.
This is a dayum good idea that came later.
I did this mod to my mounts myself before they sold them like this.

Thats what I was trying to remember. I think the left one has what looks like a large rivet. SOme of the mounts dont though. I drilled them in my other car and bolted them together with a short head bolt and nut(and loctite). At least thats how remember it 20 years ago. Couldnt afford solid mounts.
