Does anyone else have or know of anyone who has a 1972 Maverick with a 500 ci caddy motor installed. I just got my 72 Maverick, and it has a 500 ci already in it, it has been bored .30 over, and has a edelbrock intake and carb. but still has the stock exhaust. Looking to try and put on some headers. Any idea's where and what kind of header that will work ?? http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=63597
yeah there are lots of Mavericks running all over the place with 500 CID Cadillac Motors and Stock Single exhausts. I am sure somebody will reply real soon
Here is his introduction thread, from yesterday, with pictures I think he meant stock Caddy exhaust manifolds http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=63597
I just did a qick google search and came up with Sanderson Headers. http://www.sandersonheaders.com/index.php?cPath=21_28 The block hugger design will probably clear the steering linkage and what not. Maybe not though. Hooker makes a bunch of headers for different apps. You might call them and ask. I also saw Petronix. So, just google "cadillac 500 header" and start making phone calls and poking around from there. Worst case scenario is you get a bunch of J bends and a welder and make your own. Caddy 500 has been around in racing for a long long long time, so I'm sure there's something out there somewhere.
Also found these guys. Real decent price for custom headers, IMO... http://www.cad500parts.com/catalog/page032.htm
Early Pintos used "rear steer" spindles with a front sump pan. Pre '73 I believe. If someone shoe horned a Nova/Camaro front end under there, then there might be some off the shelf headers available for it.
Front steer could be a Nova too. They look practically identical. Anyway, the headers for the Nova/2 gen Camaro would probably work.
