I was wondering if a 318 Mopar will fit in a 1977 Maverick which currenlty has a 250.

318-dist. in the back-requires firewall mods. No headers will fit. Manifolds won't fit in between the towers. Mounts are in the wrong place to remotely work and the transmission would have to be a 727 or 904 (for the 3 speeds)...and both are as big as a C6-trans tunnel mods. Plus, the shift levers are on the top of the case--and right in the way of the floor.

You'd be better off trying to fit a 440 in there....with all the mods you'd have to do to make a 318 fit, a 440 would go right in just as easy and cheaply.

You think SBF parts ain't cheap (in relation to SBC stuff)...wait til you price Mopar stuff.

only if it is the last running v-8 left on the planet:p. a 302 can be stroked to 347 easily and a 351 will fit as well and can be stroked past 400 CI. both will run when you turn the key consistantly:yup:.

You need to give that car to me. It dosen't deserve to be humiliated like that. And why even think of a 318? My grandpa has an old Dodge truck with a 318, they run forever, but man, it's a turd. a stock 302 would bolt in and run circles around it.

:yikes: Blasphemy !!!! I'm a Ford person and a long time Mopar fan... Rome0806, your proposal is a dual insult !!!! :biglaugh: :biglaugh:

As suggested, get a 302 or 351w for your Maverick, and find a nice Duster or Dart for your 318. Or sell the 318 and get a 360 !! Regardless of what anyone here says a stock 360 would spank a 302 or 351w hands down !!!!
Welp, that should start some controversy :mischeif: :evilsmile
