As all of us have been, I've been restomodding my Maverick since my brother gave it to me three years ago. The last few weeks I've been messing with the paint and building a panel to mount all my accessory switches. Here are the results: It took me about 6 hours to make this panel total. I bought the top left switch (which will be for my electric fuel pump) for about $4 at Radioshack. It's totally overkill with a rating of 50 amps at 12 volts, and a miniature version is available at 40 amps but is less cool. The switch below it is for the line lock I will be installing, and is lit up red when the accessory is turned on. The exposed toggle is for rear defrost, which is wired separate from the heater switch to be either full on or off. The switches on the right are for a car alarm siren I use to mess with people and a train horn I use to control people who tailgate. The black button is my Push-To-Start, wired through the neutral safety switch to the solenoid. As for the paint... My good friend Derek and I had to paint in the rain, so we set up corrugated plastic to shield ourselves while we repainted the orange door. I used Rustoleum paint that perfectly matched the Ford beige paint, but I never had a chance to take a picture of it currently with the newly blended door. I also painted a German flag on the hood for a parade that my school's German club participated in, and I think I'll keep it because it's just cool
Your panel needs more buttons/switches Good progress man! I've also painted in the rain, sometimes you just cant wait!
Thank you! I also made use of about 8 sq ft of felt insulation, insulating the inside of the (formerly) orange door and the entire driver's side interior, which for some reason had no insulation before. Since it doesn't have a carburetor and I'm slowly implementing a MegaSquirt installation I used my generator placed around the outside of the car to compare sound pressure levels. The insulation offered about 4 to 6 dB of attenuation! My orange door is from a '72 and my car is a '71 so I also had to relocate all the door handle mechanisms and my door button fell out one day when I slammed the door so I had to take basically all the internals of my old door and replace the new door's with them, as well as changing out the lock cylinder so I can actually get into my own car! Fun times!
What kind of felt insul did u use to get that kind of sound attenuation? That's a nice improvement! Are u concerned abt the felt retaining moisture? How did u affix it to the metal? Just curious!
