    Maverick on Ebay

Has anyone seen the Maverick race car on Ebay, the one that has the inner fenders cut away and what looks like some other upper control arms? If you look close, the shaft bolts go down. Any thoughts on that? Here is a picture in case it is gone.

Looks like an MII setup to me.

My grandpa has a '57 Ranchero that was drag raced in the NHRA in the 70's. It's got the exact same setup on it.

Yea, he still has it. The body is really rough. Only thing really salvageable from the body would be the front fenders, MAYBE the doors, and the bumpers are nice. Also has a decent windshield and rear window. When it was turned into a drag car, the guy who built it covered the whole rear of it from the doors back in fiber glass for some reason. The fiberglass has held in moisture over the years and rusted it out.

Now if you had a decent body, the rolling frame would be awesome to put a good body on and make a hotrod. The frame and all is rust free and has that front end like above and a 9 inch rear in the back. No telling what the gear ratio is, but it was a drag racer... Not sure what kind of rear suspension it has. It's got a roll cage which I assume met what ever standards there were for roll cages in the NHRA in the 70's. :) The floor in it is big sheet of aluminum riveted in. It had a 428 Super Cobra Jet engine in it when it was raced. Engine and trans is long gone now.

He almost sold it a couple of times but one guy thought he wanted to much for it ($2700) and the other guy never came back with the money. I have several pictures of it taken a couple of years ago if your intrested...

Sweet!!! I'm not looking to buy one, just like them. Actually I like the 57 Ranchwagon better. I would trade my Ranchero for one in a minute.

There used to be a 1957 Ranch wagon around here that used to go to a lot of shows. I haven't seen it for awhile.

Back on topic... Steve if that pic had a little more detail it would probably appear like this....a Mustang II front end and rack and pinion steering, drilled upper and lower A-arms to lighten, Strange coil-overs, and Wildwood discs.
In my opinion THE setup for an all-out drag car.:yup:
